This course is basically for anyone that is totally starting from scratch. Learning the parts of the guitar, a little history on where it comes from, how to tune it, how fretting works, how to hold it, using a strap and capo, how to pick and strum, then getting into learning first chords, G, D, and C. We start with the simple boom-strum then alternating bass notes
Then we learn how beats and bars (how to count time) of music work and a little basic theory including the essential parts of the Nashville number system which are present a lot in bluegrass jam sessions.
From there it’s learning very simple songs going very slowly, then gradually learning more complex chord progressions, then in the second half of the course, a little more picking - bass runs, the major Ga scale, how to pick out simple melodies, the boogie-woogie, and a few more important chords and several more songs.
And there is a big encouragement toward learning to sing the songs we’re learning to play.
