A North Syracuse man accused by federal authorities of possessing child pornography is also a registered sex offender who previously was arrested on similar allegations.
Matthew Flandera was 28-years-old when he was arrested in 2012 for possession of child pornography. That arrest led to him serving 10 years of probation and being registered as a Level 1 offender, a designation considered the least likely to reoffend and the least dangerous to the community.
But this week, federal authorities allege Flandera reoffended. He now faces federal charges that could bring up to 40 years in prison.
