License plate-reading cameras (LPRs) are back on Syracuse streets under a new system that city officials say comes with added transparency and oversight.

All of the city’s Flock surveillance cameras have been taken down and replaced with Axon cameras, the same brand Syracuse police use for body-worn camera footage. Syracuse police now control the data from the new system.
