There is an extremely easy way to paint a nice-looking osl, and that is with dry pigments!

It is a much subtler effect than your classical OSL from our "Simplified OSL" course, but this one is easily done without an airbrush and works especially well for flame effects, giving the illusion of hot embers flying and falling down.
