In my experience as a Marriage Coach, a 3rd party in a marriage brings with it an unnecessary…and possibly terminal…distraction.
3rd Parties in a marriage include, but are not limited to…
-Another man or woman with whom you’ve forged an emotional or physical relationship.
-A spouse’s parent where there is an unhealthy emotional attachment (spouse to parent or vice versa) or unhealthy physical attachment (they are living with you against the wishes of one of the spouses).
-Or, any other person who takes an inordinate amount of attention away from the marriage relationship.
