Hey guys! It's that time of the week again and today we're covering "ink"!
Well, it's right back to 2020 again when this song was released and this wasn't just any song—it was their first single since their comeback. We did cover "Fear" in the past which was RUKA going through the emotions of how difficult of a time they had leading up to their hiatus but this is more about a new fresh start, or—as Sakito so eloquently puts it—repainting a stained past with pure, white ink.
There is a reference to Cassiopeia in the lyrics and in Greek mythology she was the wife of Cepheus who went too far by saying that she was more beautiful than the sea nymphs. This of course, invoked the wrath of Poseidon who banished her to the sky—placing her in a chair-shaped constellation. She can only be seen in the northern hemisphere which also explains that reference in the lyrics.
In Japanese poetry she is often mentioned as a symbol for fading dreams, distant beauty and having something beautiful slip away. That of course aligns perfectly with what Sakito is trying to tell us here and it truly is a beautiful reference.
