Nightmare Creatures was one of the most unique horror series of the late 90s… and it still doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.
At a time when survival horror was dominated by slower, more methodical games, Nightmare Creatures went in a completely different direction — blending fast-paced combat with a dark, gothic horror atmosphere.
It wasn’t just about surviving… it was about fighting back.
With brutal melee combat, intense pacing, and a constant sense of pressure, it felt closer to something like Devil May Cry or even Bloodborne long before those games existed.
Nightmare Creatures 2 doubled down on that formula, refining the combat and pushing the action even further.
It may not have become a massive franchise… but it was doing something truly different for its time.
And looking back now… it feels like a series that was way ahead of the curve.
