THIS IS NOT MY HAT

It would not be unreasonable to claim that Jon Klassen has a fixation on hats.

First came I Want My Hat Back, which effectively launched his career and (quite rightly) became a best-seller. Now we have This Is Not My Hat, a further cautionary tale in which small fish, deeming it useless for the purpose, makes off with a hat belonging to large fish, who turns out to be a whale. Big fish is not amused by this presumption, however, and in the engaging pursuit that follows, recovers both his hat and his wounded pride.

Short on words and long on illustrations, this is another bedtime topper for tinies, with a salutary twist in the tale.

Thoroughly recommended.
