Discussion of the merits of selection for disease resistance in early fall, especially to select for resistance to Northern Leaf Blight (Setosphaeria turcica), which is the most serious foliar disease of corn in my bioregion right now.
Also a discussion of the merits of Tarahumara Golden Cristalino which was purchased from Native Seeds/SEARCH and newly included in the flint corn breeding patch this year. It shows some really great traits I wish to include in the future. Early and productive, it seems to be very good at mining for nutrition in a relatively infertile situation, and it appears to be highly resistant to Northern Leaf Blight. I'm very impressed with it
