Our new permanent bridge is here!
Last year, devastating floods wiped out important infrastructure at our Newcomb campus. Through the dedication and hard work of our awesome team members, a temporary bridge was installed to provide critical access while they also worked on the permanent bridge project.
🌲 This permanent structure secures access to a large majority of our 20,000 acres of forested property at Newcomb
🌲 It allows for tree harvesting, continued research, and public use
🌲 It provides access for NYS DEC and US Forest Service Rangers and other authorities to the southwestern terminus of the High Peaks trails for emergency situations
Thank you to everyone who worked to make this happen, including a special shoutout to Jody Larabee from facilities who was our "person-on-the-ground" who also won a SUNY Chancellor's Award for his efforts.
