I am inspired by people who inspire others - especially if it involves science. This video was taken during New York Maker Faire NYMF. I had the pleasure of talking with Joseph Martinez, who is better known as Jupiter Joe. He operates Jupiter Joe's Sidwalk Astronomy which educates students about Telescopes and Space. But sometimes its a cloudy / rainy day and using a telescope is not ideal. So Joe will help engage the students with his remote control equipment like T.E.A.C.H.U.R. (Terrestrial Education of Astronomy for Children in Urban Regions) that serves as a independent team member. On his website his states that the T.E.A.C.H.U.R. platform was born to fulfill an educational role that engages children in a direct S.T.E.M. related manner while allowing them to take their first steps into engineering and scientific research.
Joe is an awesome guy who tries to inspire everyone to learn more about science, technology, engineering and math using the topics of space and astronomy as the catalyst. When you peer into the eyepiece of a telescope and see the craters on the moon or even better see the rings around Saturn or the moons of Jupiter or even its huge storm you can't help but get goosebumps and want to learn more.
Thank you Joe for being an awesome dude. Like I told Neil Tyson deGrasse on Instagram when I saw a photo of him beside Jupiter Joe - Neil had just met the worlds most awesome dude! He inspires so many people to learn more. And life is all about learning!
