Have you ever regretted a decision where you wish you had spent the time to clean up a part prior to putting it in use? This is the DIY Plasma CNC build where I'm building the gantry blocks. The gantry blocks slide along the 2-inch square tubing that carry the gantry and let it move along the entire 8-foot length of the Plasma CNC.
The bearing blocks are 3D Printed and use 608 bearings, set screws, and 8mm (5/16ths inch) rod. I cut the rods to 3 1/4 inches long pushed them into the bearing block. I skipped cleaning one rod as documented in this video youtube.com/shorts/yEii3R2byrQ and I couldn't get it out. I was concerned that I would need to reprint the entire block and start over again. Fortunately, I was able to drill and tap the end, which gave me enough grip to remove the rod. Then I cleaned up the rod and that's what I'm demonstrating in this video. So from this point forward I will clean up the burrs on the end of the rods prior to press fitting them in the bearing blocks.
