New year goal setting 2021: It's time!

I show you one example of how I plan my new year goals. Before I jump into that though, I shed some light on an important question I tackled in my life in recent years: How in the world do you stick to your goals, and is it too late to learn to draw as an adult?

In this video, share the story/system of how in my 30s I overcame my life-long tendency to fail at reaching my personal art goals. This is only one person's example, but for me it was life-changing. I hope you can take away some tips to experiment with, so you too can find a way that works in your life to reach you New Year goals 2021, and stick to your goals long beyond that!

Time marks:
00:00 Introduction to the topic, me & my background in art and goal setting, or, in short: Why am I sharing this content?

Tips:
02:38 Tip 1: Build a solid foundation (build a strong habit first)
07:28 Tip 2: Find a way to make the goal work on your life, and make room for it
09:54 Tip 3: Get crystal clear on your "why"
12:52 Tip 4: To stay motivated, measure yourself by your input (not the outcome)

30:35 Partial review of my year 2020 in art/illustration

In a few short weeks I will share part 2 of this video, which will be more focused on breaking down a goal to the level of weekly/monthly planning, and I will share more concrete details of my own art goals as well. The following are some of the resources that worked for my life, my dreams, my follow-through, my personality. They may not work for you (I had to try many approaches that didn't until I found my way). Don't give up, though! Keep experimenting, keep putting in the work, keep your core motivation as the fire that keeps you moving even when things seem muddy :).
