Renault Duster, Logan Production at the Planta SOFASA, Columbia
SOFASA (Sociedad de Fabricación de Automotores) is a Colombian firm that assembles imported Renault automobiles, as well as Toyota and Daihatsu Delta vehicles in the past. It was the first company in the Americas to construct the Renault Logan. Renault Clio, Renault Symbol, Renault Megane, and Renault Twingo were all produced by Logan. Toyota Prado, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Hilux, and Daihatsu Delta are among the trucks it produced. The company exports to the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) and supplies Colombia's national auto market. Renault is the company's sole shareholder at the moment. The company's capacity reached 70 000 automobiles per year in 2021, making it the region's largest car exporter.
With a production capacity of 80,000 automobiles per year, it is the first facility of Grupo Renault América and the fourth most efficient in the world.
RENAULT-Sofasa has invested more than 52 million euros in new vehicle introductions, facility enhancements, and supplier improvements over the last four years.
Similarly, RENAULT - Sofasa contributes to the country's development and progress through its export dynamics. Around 20,000 units of the plant's production at Envigado are bound for 11 markets in Central and South America, with Mexico being the most important customer, accounting for 60% of the vehicles exported.
Procedures for manufacturing
The production process, which is separated into three primary stages: welding, painting, and assembly, begins after you arrive at the plant.
The car body is built in welding, taking into account the standard measures for each model as well as the master cabin application points.
It progresses via the deoxidizers region, including the electrolysis and automatic vertical immersion of anticorrosives in the Surface Treatment Tunnel; and the application of waterproofing, anti-gravel, and adherents, all the way to the final enamel.
Finally, the car is finalized in Ensamble with the entire body of pieces that make up its interior and exterior design, in order to put it through various quality checks and begin distribution. For commercial management, we have a large network of Renault dealers and distributors in Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador, as well as a team of professional technicians trained in the Training Center of the Chia headquarters under global guidelines.
