The New Hope & Ivyland Railroad is a shortline and tourist railroad in southeastern Pennsylvania. Throughout the year, the railroad operates their iconic 2-8-0 steam locomotive number 40 on a number of special excursions. The majority of these excursions operate between the towns of New Hope and Lahaska; however, during the fall foliage season, the railroad runs longer trips between New Hope and Buckingham Valley. These excursions provide passengers the opportunity to ride further into the spectacular gold and orange woods of Bucks County.
On this beautiful October day, in addition to filming 40 trackside, we had the opportunity to ride through the stunning fall foliage in the fireman's seat of 40's cab. In an attempt to recreate how a passenger train on the former Reading Company's New Hope Branch would have sounded in the early 1900s, 40 wore an authentic Philadelphia & Reading 3 Chime, an extremely unique and rare whistle. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of New Hope & Ivyland 40 on a journey through the autumn woods of Bucks County
