A string of homicides is drawing attention to New Haven’s West River neighborhood after three men were shot and killed just blocks apart within weeks.

Chavis Goldson and Lorenzo Foreman were killed in a shooting on Judson Avenue earlier this month. A stray bullet from that shooting also went through a nearby home, sending debris flying that grazed a 13-year-old girl. Two weeks later, Ichon Ringwood was killed in a shooting a block away on Derby Avenue.

Police are investigating the killings as the Connecticut Violence Intervention Program works in the community to de-escalate violence among young people. The nonprofit works with people ages 13 to 24 who are engaged in high-risk activity and helps mediate conflicts.
