For the July 4th weekend of 2022 at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, a big steam gathering was held at Carson City, NV. "The Great Western Steam Up" was a unique gathering of both standard gauge and narrow gauge locomotives operating together, as well as the largest gathering of Virginia & Truckee steam locomotives in years. All eight operating locomotives had the chance to operate around the museum's loop of track and on the turntable.

Nevada State Railroad Museum engines:
-Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Co. 2-6-0 "Glenbrook"
-Virginia & Truckee 4-4-0 22 "Inyo"
-Virginia & Truckee 4-6-0 25

Locomotives trucked in for the event include:
-Bluestone Mining & Smelting Heisler 1
-Santa Cruz Portland Cement 0-4-0T 2 "Chiggen"
-Antelope & Western 0-4-0T 1
-Eureka & Palisade 4-4-0 4 "Eureka"
-Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad 2-6-0 5 debut
-Southern Pacific 4-6-0 18

Virginia & Truckee "Reno", "Genoa", and "J. W. Bowker" also were trucked in for display. With the locomotives already at the museum for display, it was an impressive gathering of steam operable and displayed.
