UPDATE (19 August 2015): Unfortunately, this remix is no longer available to download. The link got taken down after someone from Nintendo of America filed a copyright violation complaint (I guess Nintendo doesn't condone distribution of fan-made works of their IP's...). Sorry, everyone, but I won't be providing another download link, in case this happens to me again. If you want this remix, you'll have to "download" it through other means. I've already had 2 strikes against my MediaFire account; any more and I could lose that account altogether. Plus, I'm not at all willing to risk falling foul of any official Nintendo staff (again?), especially considering the company is pretty much the Disney of the video games industry and they are well within their means to try and sue me for evey penny I have and thus render me dirt poor and (possibly) homeless.

(The original link is now permanently redacted)

I decided to remix the Boss Battle theme from the third Mario & Luigi RPG in NES style, since it's so catchy. Now, I know I said that using the same instrument on both channels can make a song sound flat and 1-dimensional, but there are a few exceptions where it actually works to a reasonably good effect, and this, in my opinion, is one of those exceptions.

I made two NES mock-up screenshots for this video. The first one was made when I couldn't find any screenshots taken straight from the ROM via an emulator (I myself have that ROM, but my emulator crashes when the game enters a battle), so I had to borrow graphics from Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario World. Cheap, I know, but it works somewhat. At least I managed to find an actual Bowser sprite from the game, and I give thanks to Super Mario Wiki for having that sprite in their image gallery.

As for the second mock-up, I actually could find a directly-ripped ROM screenshot, in PNG format (Again, thanks to Super Mario Wiki), but the background has literally hundreds of individual colours, so when it came down to reducing them, the end result looks like something out of a pirate ROM. I'm still glad I made it, though.

As much as I appreciate (kind of?) all the... um... "attention" that this remix/video has attracted over the years, it wouldn't hurt to have a listen to some of my other remixes. They need some love, too.

I guess I should put some kind of copyright information here (like I should've done when I first uploaded this video). The music on which this remix is based is owned by Nintendo. I claim no ownership or revenue from the content herein.

(If anyone can suggest a better copyright notice, that would be a big help as I suck at legal mumbo-jumbo)
