EmeraldoTheDragon | NES Remix - Final Fantasy IV - Boss Battle / Super Mario RPG - Culex Battle @EmeraldoTheDragon | Uploaded April 2009 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
A 2-in-1. Well, sort of. It's the same song, but used in two games.
This is my most recent NES remix as I had only just sequenced it yesterday. Only took a couple of hours or so. I could've uploaded this yesterday, but I got caught up doing other things alongside sequencing and it got late as a result.
I took advantage of the DPCM channel and used it to make those trumpet notes you hear in the first part of the song. I probably shouldn't have done, but I figured it would make the song sound a bit better and less empty.
The FF4 NES hoax screenshot was a piece of cake, but the SMRPG one was a real bitch to make. There were so many colours that needed reducing that I got stuck a couple of times fiddling around to see which colours looked better on which sprites (The fact that the original graphics were pre-rendered didn't help).
For the record, the original FF4 screenshot had 46 colours, which I managed to reduce to 11 for the NES mock-up. The original SMRPG screenshot had 98 colours. Guess how many colours the NES hoax has? Just 18. (Yes, I'm aware there aren't any X or Y buttons on the NES controller, but I'm not remaking/reposting this whole video just for one small change. This video is about the music, not the pictures)
Also, I grabbed the FF4 screenshot from the American version of the game, in which the Mist Dragon was named "D. Mist". I changed the name to "MistDragon" to make it more accurate.
