75 Extreme Demons Completed! Last big milestone until I hit the big 100 :D
For those of you who don't know, a little while after I announced that I was going to temporarily drop Bloodlust until my semester lets up, I decided to start something that I called the Zylenox Level Marathon. Basically I'm just gonna be completing all of his rated Extreme Demons as well as Necrocide (simply because I liked the level). The document containing each level as well as some additional information can be found in the link above!
Starting off with one of the harder levels on the list, we have Necrocide!
I've known about this level's existence for a really long time. I believe it's how I actually ended up figuring out who Zylenox is in the first place. Either way, this is the level that really made me fall in love with Zylenox's style. I love the dark and metallic style that this level has, and it's personally my favorite level of this style that Zylenox has created. So I knew that once I made the decision to beat all of Zylenox's rated Extreme Demons, I might as well add in Necrocide as well, just for fun.
And as I had hoped, it was a blast!
I'll hop straight into the point here: this level is INCREDIBLY second half heavy. 64-100% carries most of this levels difficulty, with most of it being centered within 67-78%. Normally this would be a bad thing, but the thing about this level is that it gets RIDICULOUSLY consistent. I'm talking I would get to the 60s every couple of attempts towards the end of my time with this level. Not only is it incredibly consistent, but it is SO damn fun to play. The level is skill-based as well, meaning that there's pretty much no BS found in the level at all minus a couple chokepoints.
I will say that the first 5% is absolutely brutal. It's not difficult, but it contains some the fastest gameplay I have ever played, with most of it requiring me to butterfly-click to manage to do it consistently. Luckily once I got the rhythm down, it was pretty consistent. As I just mentioned, 67-78% is also absolutely brutal, and ate up the majority of my deaths at the 2nd half of this level. Somehow, though, it was never frustrating. I guess since I knew that this section of the level was by far the hardest part, as well as the fact that I could get to it extremely easily, caused my deaths at this section to really not bother me, which I am very thankful for.
Some other highlights of the level include the swingcopter at 39%, wow that part is SO much fun, and I love the demon art that comes in on the left side of the screen that matches with the screaming, it's such a nice touch. I also absolutely adore the last ship, despite it being incredibly unforgiving and deceptively difficulty despite its looks. The swingy nature of the ship combined with the vocals create an incredibly intense "don't choke" atmosphere that I love, and I honestly thing it's one of the coolest endings to any level that I've played in a long time. It's really hard to pull off an ending like this without it being incredibly frustrating, but Zylenox managed to do it!
Another thing I'll mention is that I see 0 reason as to why this isn't rated. Back when this was first released, I would've understood, as this level uses a NONG and was quite edgy for the time, but nowadays, levels like Triple Six and Collab Level are rated, and even featured, so I don't think those reasons hold up anymore. I highly doubt this will ever get rated, but here's to hoping, because of all of Zylenox's levels, this one definitely deserves it.
I HIGHLY recommend this level if you can handle how ridiculously hard the final third of the level is. Like I said, the level is insanely consistent after a while, so eventually you'll get to the point where deaths in the 60s and 70s barely phase you, so as long as you're able to understand that ending deaths with this level will happen, I highly recommend you give it a go :)
Next up for the Zylenox Level Marathon is Annihilation Nation! Out of all honesty this is the level I'm the least excited for, but I believe that it's the easiest, and it's pretty sightreadable so hopefully it won't take me too long. Be sure to tune in to my Twitch channel to catch the streams :)

![[200% Speed] Clubstep 100%
This was SO much harder than I thought it was going to be. This took me all weekend to pull off. It started off when I decided to do 1.5x speed on Friday night and managed to pull it off rather quickly, so I proceeded to do 1.6x, 1.7x, 1.8x, 1.9x and finally 2.0x speed earlier today. And Im not even kidding when I say that this is probably list worthy in difficulty. Its definitely harder than Bloodbath and Blade of Justice. Also, Im pretty sure Im the second person to do this only behind Meatius, and I can see why no one else wanted to do it. It hurts the wrist a looot, but Im still glad I did it

![[60hz] Retention 100% (Extreme Demon by WOOGI1411)

Woogi literally cannot miss.
Retention by Woogi is an absolute classic. Its a level that Ive been meaning to beat for years at this point, but I never got around to it because I was too scared to learn it. Right after I beat N0, however, I decided to try this out as my first 60hz Extreme Demon completion since its extremely 60hz friendly, and what ensued is one of the most fun experiences I have ever had with any level in GD.
This level is absolutely perfect. Its on par with Ocular Miracle and Quaoar as one of my new favorite levels of all time. The gameplay is fair, fun, and is unbelievably consistent after you learn it. The song, while being an absolute banger, gives the level an upbeat vibe, one that almost motivates you to keep playing, even if you get unlucky with it (like I did). The decoration is Woogi decoration, so obviously it looks great, and holds up really well in my opinion to todays standards. There really isnt a single complaint that I have about Retention. Its literally just that good.
I cannot recommend this level enough. Its a perfect first Extreme for literally anyone who wants to get into them, and its 60hz friendly, so theres no reason not to give it a shot!
Also, this is my first 60hz Extreme! :D

For the third level of my Zylenox Level Marathon, I beat Triple Six! Ive always loved this level visually and thematically. Ive always thought about just how ahead of its time this level was, seriously this level still rivals levels that are being released today in both style and originality. With all of these factors, its pretty obvious that I went into this level with pretty high hopes. And as it turns out that this level is actually a banger all around!
This is the second memory level that Ive ever done. Ever since I beat Nhelv (as well as before it), Ive always had a fear of memory levels due to just how bad my experience with Nhelv was. As a result, I was really intimidated by this level, despite it being a relatively easy Extreme Demon for my skill level. When I started actually learning it, however, I somehow didnt find the process bad at all. When learning 52-100%, it was actually incredibly rewarding, which isnt what I was expecting at all. The drop section (52-74%) was what I was mainly terrified of learning, but it only ended up taking me an hour and a half to learn in total, which was incredibly surprising to me, considering how bad I am at learning levels. The rest of the level isnt hard to learn at all, so overall the learning process for this level was actually pretty chill for a memory level!
Onto actually playing the level, MAN its so fun. The first part of the level is definitely the hardest part by far, nothing else in the level comes close really, but luckily its all relatively easy to learn and get down. The ships a little weird, but it eventually got to the point where I could pass the part every couple of attempts. The fleshy part starting at 12% was SO fun to play. The gameplay throughout this part was so interesting to play, its nothing like Ive ever really played before, and I mean that in the best way possible. This is also probably the easiest part of the level excluding the section from 74-100%. The cube starting at 36% I wasnt a big fan of. Most of the timings, especially in the mini-cube, felt really awkward to play, and overall it was just kind of annoying. Luckily most of the part is really sight-readable once you know where to look, so overall the part wasnt too bad, but it was definitely my least favorite part in the whole level.
Here we go dude. The drop section is probably one of my new favorite parts in any level every, its literally addicting to play man. The craziest part about it is that as soon as you learn it, you can basically do it every attempt, its that consistent. The part as a whole is just incredibly satisfying, and SO intense from 0%, its such an expertly crafted part in every way, I absolutely adore it. It looks amazing, it plays amazingly, overall its just an amazing part, gah I love it so much. The 74% memory cube that ends off the level isnt anything special really, just a memory cube with two waves that are kinda hard. It gets super consistent though so it makes the level very flukable, which is something I really like.
Overall, this level is absolutely amazing, and tied with Necrocide as my favorite Zylenox level. I think overall I enjoyed Necrocide more simply because the harder a level is, the more time it takes me to beat it, and as a result, the longer I get to spend enjoying the level. Triple Six took me 40 minutes to beat from 0%, which isnt a bad thing, but I almost wish I had to take longer to beat the level, because I almost feel like I didnt get the full Triple Six experience due to how quickly I beat the level, which is half the reason as to why I rebeat the thing in the first place. However, this level is still absolutely phenomenal, and I would recommend it to literally anyone who wants to get into memory levels, its just that good.
