As the Meta’s enterprise datacenters expanded, the need for scalable networks, simplified operations drove the transition of classic ethernet technologies to VXLAN and IPv6 in Enterprise DataCenters. However this transition from brownfield to greenfield introduces a range of technical and operational challenges that must be carefully considered for seamless and successful migration.

The presentation provides insights into the key challenges that Meta have faced while transitioning to VXLAN in different areas of Enterprise Network, including architecting a network design that is vendor-agnostic, defining the network physical and network topologies, through Intents, building a deterministic IPv6 addressing schema and reconfiguration of the entire datacenter networks while maintaining the zero configuration delta between operational and expected state. Additionally provides information about how automation was used for migration readiness, planning and also executing the complex migrations to minimize the services downtime, thus mitigating the risks (loops) during the migration.

Using real-world case study, the attendees will get insights into complexities of a VXLAN migration, overcome the fears of implementing the new technology by simplifying network provisioning processes and troubleshooting tools, and how these simplified network provisioning process helped to drive future datacenter demands.
