Subaru is isekai’d into the world of Mushoku Tensei and meets Rudeus before his encounter with Orsted. After the Man-God reveals that Subaru’s arrival has changed the future and caused Rudeus to die, Subaru learns that saving Rudeus is also his only way home.

After becoming friends, Subaru and Rudeus eventually encounter Orsted, leading to Rudeus’s death and Subaru discovering the magical implement that could send him back to his world. As Subaru dies, he vows to save Rudeus, just as he once vowed to save Emilia.

This is the official Re:Zero x Mushoku Tensei crossover story. In the next video, I’ll explain what happens in the following loops and how Rudeus discovers Subaru’s Return by Death.
