![Unspoken: The Conversation We Dont Have [EPISODE 1] | A Suicide Awareness Month Series
Would you know what to say if your child told you, I just want to disappear?
Its one of the moments parents fear most because theyre terrified of getting it wrong.
Theres a myth we need to unlearn: many believe that asking someone directly about suicide might plant the idea in their mind, when in reality, that question is often what opens the door for someone to finally be honest.
In this episode of Unspoken: The Conversation We Dont Have, Maristan Clinician Sister Tehseen Khan, LCSW, walks us through how to recognize the shifts in behavior that often precede a crisis, how to ask the harder questions with compassion instead of fear, and how to hold space for our children when they need it most.
This Suicide Prevention Month, were starting the series at home, since its often the place where our children first decide whether its safe to say what theyre really feeling. 🤍
Are you or someone you know struggling? Help is available.
