Join artist and ICP faculty member Ibi Ibrahim as he introduces Narratives in Focus: Contemporary Photography from the Middle East, a new online course offering an in-depth exploration of the key themes, movements, and voices shaping contemporary photography from the Middle East.
Through close examination of cultural, political, and social contexts, students will gain a deeper understanding of how artists from the region use photographic practices to challenge assumptions, reclaim narratives, and illuminate complex lived experiences.
Ibrahim is a Yemeni-American visual artist, educator, and publisher based in New York. A graduate of ICP, his work explores immigration, gender, and queer Arab identity. He is the founder of Makan Press, an independent photobook imprint focused on artist-led publishing and underrepresented voices.
