Now on view and free to experience in ICP's Shop, "Fuego Camina Conmigo" is the newest installation in our Book on the Wall series.
Created by La Bruja Ediciones and Ediciones Réplica, the project draws from nearly 10,000 silver gelatin lobby cards and publicity stills recovered in Medellín, Colombia. Originally produced in the 1960s and 1970s and intended to be destroyed after a film's run had ended, these ephemeral objects survived and became the foundation for an edition of 300 unique books.
For "Fuego Camina Conmigo," the verso of each print was overprinted in risograph with frames from films in which fire appears, returning the images to the fate they narrowly escaped. For Book on the Wall, the publishers extend the logic of the publication into space through a modular wheat-pasted mural of original movie posters, lobby cards, and risograph prints, accompanied by a projection of excerpts from the films reproduced in the book.
