ICP went behind-the-scenes with street photographer Daniel Arnold, as he installed a collection of his works for HARD COPY NEW YORK, now on view at ICP until May 4.
The works seen in this installation are images made on his first iPhone camera, from 2012-13, when Arnold was new to New York City, and looking for new ways to access and experience the city. And so, he created thousands of subway portraits and stolen moments—imagining what it might look like to follow these New Yorkers around for a day in their lives.
In keeping with the theme of the show, his images are black and white photo copies (some Xeroxed 2-3 times over) of the original iPhone photos.
