bakeneko | N64 All Dungeons Jabu Timer Freeze Comparison Void Out vs Ruto @bakeneko8252 | Uploaded 5 years ago | Updated 8 hours ago
I included whole movement from eyeball frog to Blue Warp Ruto for showing how timer is going on, but the point of this video is timer freeze with Ruto (from 4:30) and SS hoverslide picking up (from 1:13) can help to get extra time.
-Timer Freeze with Ruto-
This timer freeze idea was from Fox and sva. As you can see, it saves 27 sec in this video and actually it can be over 30 sec if you're enough fast (I'll explain this part later). But the timer is kinda tight, so no one use this in runs so far.
Also actually it's harder than it looks. Ruto's text is active when Link is at the correct position and faces to Ruto. So if you landed on the too far/close place from the correct position inside blue warp, Link takes few steps and his angle changes, then Ruto's text takes time to start and timer warp happen before it. So I used setup for it but still need yolo positioning.
(EDIT)Zudu found another setup. timing to enter blue warp is a bit harder but positioning is much easier: youtu.be/Xu7l_5VdYjQ
-SS Hoverlisde Picking Up-
This idea was from Moose: twitter.com/kumquatree/status/998744551186747394
It's swag way but almost same speed compared with just walking: youtu.be/mIjRgxVb0to
So basically it's not worth to do, on the contrary, it loses 5 sec if you have timer because equip & unequip hoverboots stop timer. But actually this 5 sec gives you extra time for timer freeze with Ruto. Technically you can freeze timer only with timer stop during waiting lift and then the timesave would be 32 sec, but even if it's timeloss, this 5 sec extra time is big I guess.
The good point is that you can switch to void out timer stop if you failed SS. But be careful the case failing "picking up". Picking up Ruto can fail if you hit bubble right before picking up or if you released R when Ruto is too far and gone to outside of camera.
Of course, there are the other places for timer stop. It loses time but makes timer freeze with Ruto easier and still it should save over 20 sec. So I believe timer freeze with Ruto can be realistic timesave.
Btw I used this trick for void warp side too: youtu.be/07iLd25KP98
It saves 2.6 sec because of no navi text but no one uses it for now, so the difference would be more big if you didn't use this.
