the timing for pressing forward b is sort of precise, but it's still really easy to get.

More detailed routine from absolute beginner onwards, for those who might want to emulate portions: reddit.com/r/LearnJapanese/comments/knghxi/10_months_progress_since_using_immersion
Far from exhaustive list of things that I found especially helpful while learning (some of which I continue to use): (EDIT: the stuff below may still be relevant, but my advice at this point is go watch aussieman's "masterclass" before all else youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTGwxYYu8He-OYfgudK0odx1_LsgGAPGy Additionally, read this post if you're all about wanting "optimal" in language methods reddit.com/r/LearnJapanese/comments/sedr0m/how_i_got_180180_on_n1_in_85_months)
Language acquisition method MIA (rebranded as Refold): https://refold.la/roadmap/
I wouldn't say following it to a T is necessary as I hardly followed what it says; just used its general ideas and continued how I saw fit. But those ideas are invaluable

Informative videos, also good for all things Anki. Anki with proper MIA addons is 100x better

Japanese foundation any learner should have. I believe this playlist can serve as a substitute to any textbook. Once you absorb the playlist, dive directly into native resources like anime or books. Don't fear the ambiguity and lack of understanding that will be present at first.
あかねさん: youtube.com/channel/UCh-GhnQ7qDQmS6Bz3pGc1Mw
While you should study with advanced material even if it's above your level, I believe supplementing the powerful momentum associated with studying "well-beyond your level" with closer to your level material is very useful. Particularly with the live recordings, this channel essentially feels like a tree that has endless low-hanging fruit to collect. At an intermediate level comprehension feels very high, so rather than having much energy exerted toward trying to understand what is being said, you understand most all of it and that energy is exerted into absorbing Japanese sentence structure and cementing it in your mind. For beginners the channel is also great, as I imagine it sits at a goldilocks zone of difficulty that I haven't encountered with any other resource thus far. Wish I found this channel when first starting. I mostly use this channel's live recordings for shadowing (speaking out loud alongside the video), and I believe this was a paramount component in getting me to be able to formulate thoughts (along with getting my tongue muscles accustomed to Japanese)

Not a question; a must download. Shift+hover over a word and dictionary definition pops up. Matt vs. Japan has (a) video(s) on this

Primary site I use when studying anime. Even if you're not learning Japanese but like anime, this site is amazing

Kanji:
I used Wanikani for Kanji, but I don't necessarily recommend it. It's slow, doesn't allow you to go at your own pace, and although it provides lots of vocabulary, learning them in its isolated fashion doesn't make them stick. It was nonetheless an indispensable help for me, but there are almost certainly better options. Focusing on remembering the meanings of Kanji (rather than individual readings) and learning Kanji readings (as well as meanings) through what you encounter in immersion through sentence mining is probably the way to go.

I may not agree with everything in here but it seems to have the right idea most everywhere; serve as a good Kanji guide

Awesome overview of what's happening with ACE by GlitchesAndStuff - youtube.com/watch?v=wdRJWDKb5Bo

Great tutorial for this route (as well as some insight into what is happening in the run) by dannyb - youtube.com/watch?v=5A51_byMBXs

This run had good rupee RNG that allowed me to skip traversing over an area we otherwise would need to collect more rupees. The RNG and movement was sub-par and only saved ~1s over normal RNG, as opposed to a possible ~4s. I also thought I failed Return A when I had actually gotten it, thus making my movement wonky.

often go through sessions of playing whatever songs sound fun - recorded basically that.
I've played through all these songs in the past, but this is still sight-reading through them; wouldn't be able to make it a more than a measure in without the sheet music. hence many sloppies
0:00 Rachmaninoff Elegie
6:00 some Respighi piece
10:58 Rachmaninoff Prelude no. 6
14:09 Chopin Nocturne no. 1
18:12 another Respighi piece
21:16 Scriabin Prelude No. idk
22:24 Scriabin Prelude No. also don't know
23:53 Scriabin Prelude No. idk
24:46 Scriabin Prelude No. last Prelude + 1 (idk)
26:44 Debussy Ballade
nice lil break from all dungeons lol

N64 record, former record
1:15 soon :)

....forgot to edit livesplit layout but he had WR before me with 8:24
By no means a good run. ~20:2x/20:3x would be pretty optimized
This was on N64, slower than VC
3:26 is doable on n64, maybe 3:25; not sure how low VC could go
The goal of Ganonless is to complete the game without defeating Ganon, achieved through performing a Credits Warp
Biggest mistakes/unoptimal sections:
Grabbing the ledge at some point during cuccos; Messing up the bottle on B setup/slow sign HESS to Cucco Lady; Unoptimal health when doing Bolero Skip (had 3/4 heart rather than 1/2 heart, losing me 2s on the death timer); 2 bonks and an unnecessary backflip during Fire Temple. Not much else I can complain about
(Splits are different in this video than the splits posted on twitter, because splits were not part of the original video. This was a rewatch of the original video with splits included)
Can't say I'm happy with this but the category is absolutely brutal, so I'm not gonna bring this down any further. low 27 would be ideal. Stopped the timer after butterfly fairy because the timeloss was too much for me to want to look at
1:35 is possible with buffering the first clip
Good run otherwise
The goal of this category is to catch the Hylian Loach as fast as possible. This run was far from perfect, but it'll do
I did not expect the huge gold on the last split, didn't know sub 22 would be possible. Pretty good run overall
Really bad up to Kakariko, and slow movement with chicken, new strats are the only reason I pb'd
Two gross mistakes, but at the same time a bit difficult to beat
Have to be quick at backflipping, and the cucco needs to be decently far from where you throw the nut to backflip in time
idea by tsundere rar
There is a faster route for dank% now for VC only, which involves GIM.
For this route, buying only 1 stick and skipping the wess to Kakariko is about 5-6 seconds faster than previous runs of this route which would buy 2 sticks and do the wess. Without that route optimization this run still would have managed to beat the previous best, 9:05. (Would be around 9:03-9:04)
Cuccos could be a bit better, though overall this run is very clean
Very nice run aside from a bad diving game (4 dives). With great RNG, that split could be improved by at least 5 seconds to gold, or 8 seconds to this run.
Sub 9 is possible but extremely RNG dependent
badbadbad, I'll improve to most likely under 9:14
First split can be like 2s faster, and very slight timesave on master sword split. Will likely improve this.
A good run with this route would be anything under 1:31, though this run was still ok. Many 10s timelosses here and there.
nothing good about this run
This song is not my own, and was composed by Andrew Johnson. Original video here: youtube.com/watch?v=ZQvXmgqYPNE
Gamefeed only because the raw recording is all that was saved.
Fastest any% run completed on the original n64
Frame counted the run and it ended up as 19:04.1 after thinking it was 19:03 for so long :(
Run died to the final sidehop at guards killing a potential sub 17 master sword
idk how good this is compared to real SA2 runners, felt nice and clean though :) (No CGS or CGSS)
Basically flawless besides backflipping near Zelda.
Could maybe have been a low 36
-This was actually really good considering all the places that could have gone wrong.
-Movement and boomerang aiming were god awful though.
Overall, really happy about how this turned out, although I'm not sure if Reverse King Zora skip was even faster lol
