It was awesome to discover this complex shape, of which I have not found a name in mathematics. It is the beginning of an infinite surface in hyperbolic space. Then you make the shape even larger with magnets, then at some point units will no longer fit because in the actual hyperbolic shape units need to increase in size when further away from the center. Besides the strange geometry of this lattice, strange polarity effects occur. Due to the internal tension in the build, sometimes these units connect as it they have the same polarity. After separating them end rejoining usually again they connect as they should with the opposite polarity they are made with.
