Hi everyone! I did something a little different for today’s video – I bought a mystery vintage Halloween advertisement from Etsy and…I received a 1941 ad for Kellogg’s Rice Krispies, featuring a recipe for Rice Krispies Marshmallow Squares. So for today’s video, I will be sharing a little history about Rice Krispies, the origins of Rice Krispies treats, and try out a Halloween Rice Krispies Treat recipe for myself. Hope you enjoy!
Recipe for Marshmallow Krispies Jack-O’-Lantern Treats:
Ingredients:
-1/4 cup margarine or butter
-1pkg. (10oz, about 40) regular marshmallows or 4 cups miniature marshmallows
-5 cups Kellogg’s Marshmallow Krispies cereal (add dehydrated marshmallows to Rice Krispies cereal)
Directions:
1. Melt margarine or butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Cooke over low heat 3 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
2. Add Marshmallow Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated. (Julie’s note: Place mixture into a pan lightly coated in cooking spray. Let set for 10 minutes.)
3. To make five Jack-O’-Lanterns Treats, divide cereal mixture into five equal parts. Form pumpkin-shaped balls and stems. Decorate with frosting and Halloween candies.
Yield: 5 Jack-O’-Lantern Treats
