This collection of folklore was recorded and produced by Michael Fortune and Aileen Lambert, facilitated by The GAFF and supported by The Arts Council, Limerick Arts Office, St. Mary's National School and Thomond Primary School.

00:12 – Carleigh tells the story about her father’s friend who was down at the handball alley, and the Banshee came after him and scraped his face.
50:03 – Carleigh tells Mick the witch story. It’s the story of the Bishop’s Lady, and how they threw the witch over the bridge. You can see her fingermarks on the bridge.
1:35 – They tell Mick about the nuns who walk around the Island. One is bad while the other two are good. She also tells a story about the Banshee cutting off a man's head and sewing it onto a horse's body.
2:23 – Carleigh tells the story of her daddy hearing the Banshee singing. She describes the Banshee. Lovely.
3:17 – Mick asks if they’ve heard of the Headless Horseman. Carleigh tells the story of the Banshee cutting the head off a fella and sewing it onto a horse. Mick asks if they’re serious, and Mya says her mammy googled it. Great to hear them getting stories from all different sources.
4:41 – Mick asks about the superstition of picking up a comb off the road. Carleigh heard it was the Banshee’s. Mya once picked one up and smashed it against the wall.
5:22 – Carleigh tells a great story about a child on the Island picking up the Banshee’s comb, and the Banshee following her home. Great story. Mya has a story about the Banshee crying.

8:39 – Carleigh tells a story of looking up at the sky and seeing the stars spelling out the name of a person who has passed away and is looking down on you. Mya has another version, with a gap in the clouds in the sky — someone’s soul going to heaven. Carleigh tells the story of the Headless Horseman going through the gap in the clouds to heaven.
10:13 – Carleigh tells Mick about the Green Lady story, and how she might follow you home if you disrespect her land and home. Mya describes the Green Lady’s water.
12:01 – Carleigh tells Mick how her friend saw the Green Lady. She tells Mick the Green Lady was covered in leaves and threw rocks at her friend. Mya describes her eyes and how she has a mermaid tail. She then tells how the Green Lady kills people and takes one part of their body and attaches it to her own. Carleigh tells the story of how the Green Lady developed — which involved children’s hair and sharks! She’s some woman. Great storytelling here.

18:47 – Mick asks about birds coming into the house as a sign of death. Mya tells a story about her granny passing.
19:45 – Carleigh tells the story about the Banshee and hearing her sing down by the handball alley. Great story. Her friend got scratched on her arm by the Banshee down at the handball alley — she had to get five stitches.
22:02 – Mya and Carleigh reflect on the stories about the Banshee, the Green Lady, and the witches. They talk about the nail marks on the bridge and Hallowe’en night. Carleigh talks about how her cousin touched the nail marks on Hallowe’en night and fell down the stairs, breaking her hand. They had to end the chat as school was ending.
