Hey guys! Here's an add on to the " winter clothing " vid I just posted. This is my basic setup for temps BELOW zero with minimal wind. Here are the specs of my set up :
Warbonnet Blackbird XLC ( not the newest version) with my winter cover / bug net mod. I changed out the stock white shock cord on the pullouts with olive green to blend in a little better. I also added long pieces of orange paracord as zipper pulls.
Hammock Gear custom minus 10° Incubator ~ short length, 20.2 oz of hydrophobic goose down, Argon67 dark olive outer + Argon67 black inner, 2 added mini Beastie D rings to line up with the shelf side net tie back ribbon and zipper side net pull out mitten hook that's closer to the foot end to keep quilt locked in place. It has a much taller baffle height to allow the added down volume more room to loft.... Higher loft = more body heat trapped inside = lower temp rating. My minus 10° Burrow also has the same height baffles.

DIY fleece TQ liner ~ super easy to make and boosts the temp of your TQ by several degrees. I use this in those super cold nights almost like a sheet of sorts. It helps keep my body heat in and also traps some of the moisture that might end up in my precious down lol. Also, since the Burrow is SO full of down it bridges across my chest somewhat and creates a gap between me and the down. This in turn makes it harder for my body to heat the added volume of air and I get cold at very low temps even with the -10° rating. Having this fleece liner helps fill that gap without adding extra bulk and makes it that much more cozy inside! A great DIY project for all you beginners out there!
Hammock Gear Econ pillow ~ made with Dutchwaregear ION ™ fabric and Duck down to keep the cost low but still keep the warmth factor high. I use 2 of these together in a mesh bag from Dollar Tree on sub-zero nights to really keep my dome warm.
Snugpak Snuggy Pillow ~ I ALWAYS use this small packable pillow inside my TQ to help elevate my feet slightly so my heels don't go numb lol. It also provides more insulation in the footbox on subzero nights or when I use my ¾ length Snugpak Jungle Blanket UQ.
Nite-ize light ~ This small light has a clip on one end and hangs on my RL.
I think that's it. To order the HG quilts I emailed Harry and he helped me design them. I wanted the Burrow to only come up to around my nose since I don't pull my TQ's over my head and hate dealing with the extra length of my TQ's when they get all bunched up in my face. Harry recommend a short length minus 5" ( at the time it was made they just removed the top tube of down to shorten it the 5" since the quilt had horizontal down tubes vs the vertical down tubes of the new, current design) With the large volume of down in it I wanted it to be just long enough since it fills up most of the inside of my hammock. Any extra length would just take up space and make it more difficult to deal with. For the Incubator I went with a short length which is just long enough , but doesn't give me much room for error if I slide up or down to far or don't get it dialed in PERFECT. I wouldn't recommend this for a winter quilt unless you are VERY confident in your skills. Both quilts cost only SLIGHTLY more than their 0° counterparts, yet are virtually 100% custom to my exact specifications. HG is absolutely AMAZING and can help you design a quilt that will be exactly what you want. The minus 10° temp ratings are conservative to say the least and I've used them down to an air temp of -18° with a wind chill/ " real feel" temp of close to MINUS 30°F !!!! I obviously had proper clothing on, and did several other small tricks to achieve this, but the digital thermometer inside my pocket read 81° when I woke up!! 81°!!!
