I had been putting it off for long enough. While my iBook worked well enough for video editing in iMovie '06, it was well and truly time for an upgrade. One of the most prohibitive things about my iBook G4 was speed; a 10 minute standard definition video took almost four and a half hours to render, sometime more. And so I began looking around on eBay for an affordable Macbook, and settled on one that had some slight cosmetic damage, but worked perfectly.

This Macbook came with Mac OSX 10.7 Lion, which I've updated to 10.7.5--the newest version of OSX that this Macbook can run. Initially, when I first attempted to install the iLife '11 suite of programs, I was presented with an error stating I couldn't install the programs as they were for PowerPC Macs. Fortunately, the iMovie '06 .dmg Apple released during the iMovie '07 fiasco installed just fine.
