Velotric just released the brand-new Summit 2 hybrid eBike, and in this video we unbox it and put it together for the first time. But there’s an interesting twist…

The Summit 2 is designed in New Jersey — a state that now has some of the strictest eBike regulations in the country. New laws require riders in some cases to have a driver’s license, register their eBike, and even carry insurance.

Meanwhile, other states are doing the opposite — offering rebates and incentives for eBike purchases to help reduce emissions, traffic, and transportation costs.

So it raises an interesting question:
Why would one of the newest eBikes be designed in a place that’s making it harder to ride them?

Whether you're considering an eBike for commuting, recreation, or replacing short car trips, this one might be worth a look.

Let us know in the comments:
Do you think states should regulate eBikes more… or encourage them?
