The brand-new Segway MAX G3 Plus takes one of our favorite commuter electric scooters and makes it even better. In this review, we compare the MAX G3 Plus with the original MAX G3, test its acceleration and hill-climbing power, ride it in the rain, and explain whether the upgrades are worth it.

The MAX G3 Plus receives several meaningful upgrades, including a more powerful motor, a larger battery, improved braking, and brighter rear turn signals.
### Major Segway MAX G3 Plus upgrades:
• 2,200W maximum motor power—up from 2,000W
• 717Wh battery—up from 597Wh
• Dedicated rear turn signals
• Larger 140mm brake discs—up from 120mm
• Intelligent Combined Braking System
• Regenerative and mechanical braking working together
• Additional side reflectors for improved visibility
• Built-in mounting points for mirrors
Although the MAX G3 Plus looks very similar to the previous model, the upgrades make it more powerful, safer, and better equipped for longer daily commutes.
During our real-world Segway MAX G3 Plus review, we test its 28 mph top speed, Boost Mode, traction control, hydraulic suspension, braking performance, wet-weather handling, and ability to climb one of our steepest test hills. Despite using a single motor, it powered up the approximately 30% grade without slowing down.
Other standout features include 11-inch self-healing tubeless tires, front and rear hydraulic suspension, IPX6 water resistance, a bright 2.4-inch TFT display, Apple Find My, Segway AirLock, password protection, under-deck lighting, an adjustable headlight, and a built-in fast charger that eliminates the need to carry a large charging brick.
### What we love:
• Smooth, stable, and confidence-inspiring ride
• Strong acceleration and impressive hill performance
• Excellent hydraulic suspension
• Bright rear turn signals and improved braking
• Premium construction with almost no rattling
• Built-in fast charging
• Industry-leading app and security features
• Twist throttle that can also be used as a thumb throttle
What could be improved:
• Weighs more than 50 pounds
• Mechanical brakes may require occasional adjustment
• Boost Mode can only be activated while stopped
• Navigation does not integrate with Google Maps
• The Plus model looks almost identical to the original G3
• Performance-focused riders may want more than the 28 mph top speed
The Segway MAX G3 Plus may not offer the highest speed or the largest battery for the money, but it delivers where it matters most: quality, comfort, safety, security, technology, and overall ride refinement.
