I honestly wasn't expecting this.
A few months ago, I submitted Stolen Ground: The Tygerberg Raceway Story to several film festivals around the world. One of them, the International Cultural Journal Film Festival, officially selected the documentary for this year's festival in Ukraine.
Then, out of nowhere, a package arrived.
Inside was far more than I expected. A commemorative medal, official festival merchandise, certificates, a plaque, and several other surprises. Even though the documentary hasn't won an award yet, the festival still went out of its way to make every selected filmmaker feel appreciated.
In this video I unbag (yes... apparently that's a thing now!) everything that was sent to me and share my reaction.
The festival takes place on 12 to 13 September, so I'll only find out then whether Stolen Ground receives any awards. Regardless of the outcome, being officially selected is already a huge honour.
A massive thank you to everyone at the International Cultural Journal Film Festival for your generosity, and thank you to everyone who has supported Stolen Ground over the years. None of this would have been possible without you.
