My older cow, Fannie who has been such a joy in my life is pregnant by my favorite bull ever, Leo, the Scottish Highlander. We were worried about her being an older cow and this being her 4th calf.
On the day she went into labor, Fannie showed signs of Milk Fever which can be very deadly to both mama and baby even though we had given her Calcium paste.
When she couldn't stand up, we knew we needed help but the vet and our farmer friends couldn't come. Thankfully, my camera team knew a local Herdswoman working at the dairy who came to give the essential IV so that Fannie would have the strength to push out the calf. I got on my overalls and together we helped pull the calf!
We are so excited to meet this new little Heifer that we named Dollie! You can watch the other two cows give birth on the Live Stream on the Food Nanny Cows Channel at this link:
