Hey guys, since it's getting into the coldest part of the winter here in the mid-Atlantic region I wanted show what I wear around camp and to sleep in. Most of my stuff is super inexpensive and works just as well as clothes you might find at REI or online from the manufacturer. I've found that when used as a system , your clothing and quilts don't have to be ultra expensive or brand name. Allowing the good parts of one pick up the slack for the negatives of the other can be very effective if your not counting grams or dealing with limited pack space. I've been using the same Wal-Mart base layers mixed with stuff I already had and inexpensive stuff from Ebay ,.Amazon, Goodwill and Macy's backstage for years now and they've taken me well below zero. It all comes down to knowing the limits of each individual piece of clothing and gear together with using your skills to design a system that accounts for any weaknesses. Practice , practice, practice! Try different combinations of clothing and quilts to figure out how comfortable you can be at different temps and in different weather conditions. Putting together all the small things like eating before bed, keeping your bladder empty and not going to bed cold, with the right clothes and quilts can make a HUGE difference when your hanging in super low temperatures.
