This chore, friends, ain't for the faint of heart. I tackled the chicken coop cleanout, that necessary evil of homestead life, and Lordy, was it a sight. Deep bedding, they call it, and deep it was, up to my elbows in muck and whatnot. But it's a winter blessing, that deep bedding, keeps the girls warm as toast when the north wind howls. I showed you how we do things here, from collecting the golden eggs to letting the flock roam free, keeping a wary eye out for hawks and such. You'll see the compost pile grow, a rich, dark treasure for my garden, and learn the secrets of a homemade disinfectant, a blend of herbs and spirits that'd make any coop sparkle. It's a day of honest labor, and I reckon you'll find a bit of wisdom in it too, if you're willing to get your hands dirty.
