After a long hiatus, Multiversus made its grand return this past spring. Officially launching for real this time, the game made a splash with fans of both platform fighters and the massive array of franchises under WB's reign. Yet, not even half a year later, most of that momentum has already been lost. Just like in its quote-quote "beta" period, a combination of factors has made the playerbase dwindle away to a fraction of what it started out with.

It raises a few questions. One, how is MVS squandering its momentum a second time? Two, what about the game is causing players to give up on it again? And three, is there anything the developers at Player First Games can do to save it before it becomes yet another story of a non-Smash platform fighter failing to find sustained success? What, exactly, is going wrong?
