This year marks the 14th anniversary of the True Blue Pledge—an enduring tradition born from the heartbreaking loss of Lady Raiders basketball player Tina Stewart in 2011. Since its inception, the pledge has become a powerful symbol of our community’s shared values. Each fall, new freshmen and transfer students recite it during our University Convocation, officially beginning their academic journey with a commitment to something greater than themselves.
The phrase “I am True Blue” encapsulates the core principles we stand for: honesty and integrity, active community engagement, and a commitment to resolve conflict through reason rather than violence. These are not just ideals we hope our students will embrace—they reflect our deep commitment to their growth, their success, and the betterment of our entire University community.
