Unlike my previous 2008 Bionicle models, this one required a lot of extra thought to redesign. Many fans hold the 2008 Takanuva toy in high regard, but it has many design issues and it wouldn't work as a functioning, articulated animation character without heavy revamps. It has a flat upper body and a slight gut, no torso articulation or back armor, comically oversized hands, gaps in his shins and ugly double-connectors on his hips.
I attempted to rectify those with this model, and make him look closer to his original 2003 self. Technically I could have just made a 2003 Takanuva and enlarged him, but that would look ridiculous. So instead, he received a bulkier chest with his armor turned the other way around for a more heroic stature. Modified Nuva shoulder pads on his arms instead of freaky fish skulls and bulkier shin-guards to better imitate his original leg armor. I also filled out his gaps, relocated the piston on his legs, gave him 2001-2003 style torso pistons along with sleeker hip armor. His eyes are also back to their original yellow instead of the boring uniform lime green used for every good guy in 2008.
As for the jet pack, that's a personal embellishment, cause I want to showcase his flight ability without having to reference the alternate-dimension Makuta magic pixie dust that made him fly in the online serials. Because, well, screw the serials.
