Jimmy gets caught sharing a room with Cesco, which is strictly against motel regulations, but Hilary's got far more important things to worry about: his wife is visiting and she doesn't know that he wears a wig at work. Meanwhile, there's a bit of a circus theme going on, and filling in order forms for new shop stock isn't a great idea when your handwriting is as bad as Charlie's.
There's always a fair bit of subtle deadpan Police-Squad-style humour in Spin Off, but in this one we go full-on farce as the unseen Angela is somehow kept in the dark about her husband's hairpiece, while Hilary remains convinced that none of his employees knows he's bald, all thanks to unlikely Canadian hats and shouts of 'How did that goat get in here?' It's daft, but it makes me laugh, and the drama comes to (ahem) a head at the end as we finish on a cliffhanger about poor Trevor. Whoever he might be.
These clips come from the episode of Motormouth originally broadcast on Saturday, 14th January, 1989, which is down as missing presumed wiped. I live in hope that a full recording will show up one day, but, for the time being, at least we've got a bit of Gemma from Hoo (probably in Kent) being Famous for 30 Seconds at the beginning, and part of Tony Gregory's chat with George and Shannon of Boy Meets Girl at the end. My jaw hit the floor when it was just casually mentioned in passing that they wrote Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance with Somebody.
