The Moto Guzzi Normale is the first motorcycle built in series by Moto Guzzi, produced from 1921 until 1924. It contains the main characteristics that characterized many Guzzi models for several decades. The power delivered of 8 HP at 3,200 rpm with a compression ratio of 4:1 allowed this motorcycle to be pushed up to a speed of around 80 km/h, with an average fuel consumption of 30 km/l and one liter of oil every 350 km: a remarkable achievement for the time. In 1922, after a series of small modifications in the tuning of the engine and an increase in the compression ratio to 4.7:1, the power of 8.5 HP was reached, obtained at 3,400 rpm, thus bringing the vehicle to 85 km/h. Given the excellent initial performance, the engine will be developed and used on many other models produced in the following decades by Guzzi.
