Talk Summary: Teachers are thought to play a central role in students’ motivation and creativity. But how do teachers think about creativity? Together, the two speakers have sought to understand how teachers’ own beliefs about creativity color their practices.
Biographies: Michael Barger is an associate professor of educational psychology at the University of Georgia. He studies how children’s beliefs about learning develop, with particular interest in what teachers and parents can do to support children in developing adaptive views of their education. Andrea Wikle is an educational psychology researcher at UGA focusing on
creativity, motivation, and learning processes in children and adolescents.
