Every night from January 24-28, 1994, the Sci-Fi Channel ran a different kaiju movie in the evening and early morning hours as part of its Tokyo Under Siege: It Started with Godzilla marathon, the channel's first of many Godzilla movie marathons. "Mothra" was movie no. 4, broadcast Thursday January 27.
The other films were "Godzilla on Monster Island" (Monday), "King Kong Escapes" (Tuesday), "Godzilla vs. Megalon" (Wednesday) and "Godzilla vs. the Cosmic Monster" (Friday). In fact, it was one hell of a week for U.S. Godzilla fans with cable TV, as TNT ran its five Godzilla movies on Saturday the 29th.
The video here comes from my own DVD-R recording of an original EP-speed recording (thanks Cam!), and as you can see, my VCR at the time definitely didn't like EP tape. I apologize for the inferior video and audio quality.
