A second arrest was made in an investigation into a DWI crash that took the life of a young girl.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Syracuse City Court, 27-year-old Nathalie Alejandro, the mother of Yasmeen Shaaf, 3, was charged with criminally negligent homicide for the overnight July 31 crash in Syracuse.
The complaint said Alejandro put her children, including a 7-year-old boy who was hospitalized after the crash, in danger. The complaint stated that Alejandro knew Jazmine U. Vann, 25, of Syracuse, was impaired by alcohol before driving and did nothing to stop her.
Vann was previously arrested in connection with the incident. She's accused of driving the vehicle while intoxicated. Vann was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter in the first degree, vehicular manslaughter in the second degree and assault in the first degree. She was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Vann and Alejandro are in a relationship, the district attorney's office said.
