Playthrough of the klassic champion tower with Johnny Cage, using Sonya Blade as the kameo character. Mortal Kombat 1 was released in 2023. The Switch version immediately caused controversy upon release, but not because of the violence -because of the graphics! Whilst no one was expecting it to match up with the PlayStation, Xbox or PC versions, the Switch version looked far worse than it should have done at launch. And despite these obvious graphical issues, the game still cost the same as it did for the other formats. The load times were terrible too.
Some patches have been released which have improved things, but there are still noticeable problems. The most obvious one is the framerate -during a fight it’s at 60fps most of the time, but the moment a kameo character comes on, especially if both players call their kameo character on at the same time, the game will chug. It often struggles during fatalities and other finishing moves. I’ve seen footage from the original version where there would be a load time after the characters talk to each other before the fight begins, these load times appear to have been completely eliminated now.
As he has been for the last few games, Johnny is the best character. I picked him purely because of his ending, the idea that he’s pitching the MKCU to a God is very funny. I like the startup for his animality too.
