The AES version of Metal Slug is one of the most expensive Neo Geo games around, so this CD version is the next best thing. The load times aren't too bad, and it has a number of neat extras. Combat school has a time attack and survival mode, the latter being where you have only one life to beat the game with, and no tanks. Doing well in these modes gives you points, which increases your rank. Getting the "super devil" rank rewards you with a super handgun which shoots tank shells!
The English version turns the blood color to white (it’s red in the Japanese version). Another difference is with the two player mode ending. In the Japanese version, karaoke lyrics come up for “Hold you still!”, the theme which plays during the credits. There were removed entirely from the English version, unfortunately this seems to have caused a small glitch in the process. The soldiers are all standing perfectly still, in the Japanese version, they all move.
