What is the Gospel? Talking with most Mormons it is clear that they just don't listen! This is a short video of my conversation recently with a Mormon aka a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Church in which we talked about what we believe, and then got right into a debate on water baptism. This particular Mormon claimed that Protestants aka Evangelical Christians are all wrong on John 3:5 that it clearly teaches you must be water baptized to get the gift of the Holy Ghost, that is what he claimed. Mormons believe that you must be water baptized first in order to be saved and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, and this discussion focused mostly on that. His proof text was John 3:5, but I kindly shared repeatedly that the context of John 3:3-8 is about 2 births, one physical and one spiritual, and that Jesus went on to say how a person gets eternal life by believing in Him as John 3:16-18 clearly teaches. We went on to talk for about an hour or so, and went into John 3:1-18, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:34-39, Acts 10:39-48, Acts 15:7-11, 1 Peter 3:21-22, Mark 1:8, Mark 16:16, Romans 10:9-13, 1 Corinthians 1:17, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Ephesians 1:13-14, 1 John 5:10-13, and we talked about hell and eternal judgement in Matthew, 10:28, Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 20:11-15, and more. I share this today as it reminds me that it is so important to read the Bible in context and not proof text, and to know what the Gospel of Jesus Christ is and not to believe in a false gospel.
